Regular counts have been made during the winter 1971-1972, for following species: <i>Anser anser</i> (max. 760), <i>A. fabalis rossicus</i> (max. 560), <i>A. fabalis brachyrhynchus</i> (max. 92), <i>A. albifrons</i> (max. 210, but max. 600 when the geese of Damme have been disturbed). The present status of each of these 4 species of wild geese in and around Zwin is discussed.","AbstractOtherLang":"Deze overwintering werd de laatste winters sterk bevorderd door 3 nieuwe factoren:1. het bezaaien van belangrijke oppervlakten met koolzaad;2. de moderne toegepaste landbouwtechniek voor het oogsten van suikerbietenen aardappelen;3. het controleren en verbeteren van het waterpeil in het Vogelreservaat «Het Zwin»,zodanig dat de wilde ganzen aldaar een ideale slaapplaats vinden, om er de nacht zonder enige verstoring door te brengen.Regelmatige tellingen werden gedaan gedurende de winter 1971-1972. Deze tellingen tonen de aantallen ganzen, aanwezig op de grond, in en rond het Zwin (Tabel 1).
