Moluscos asociados al arrecife coralino de Isla Larga, Parque Nacional San Esteban, Estado Carabobo, Venezuela

Abstract

The specimens identified in the present work were collected manually on occasional visits to the Isla Larga coral reef, between years 2006, 2007 and 2009, applying a systematic designed on the gradient depth from to 1 m to 18 m depth during the months of May, June and July 2010. In order, to have a taxonomic report in the area we identified 23 families within the Phylum Mollusca corresponding to 38 species of the Bivalvia (21) and Gastropoda (17) Classes. Similar values of species richness have been recorded in other Caribbean reefs. The number of species found in a such small area of sampling in the San Esteban National Park suggests the need to increase the effort towards other reefs of the same location.
