The new species <i>Profundiconus smirnoides</i> sp. nov. is described from material taken off New Caledonia (Chesterfield Reef, Grand Passage, Loyalty Islands and New Hebrides Arc, Norfolk Ridge), and northern New Zealand (Wanganella Bank, Kermadec Ridge), in depths ranging from 80 to 1150 m.
