Het gaat om een continue systeem monitoring waarbij parameters zoals stroming, debieten, conductiviteit, turbiditeit, … worden gemeten. Naast de metingen uitgevoerd op deze stationaire meetposten worden ook mobiele meetcampagnes georganiseerd om de systeemkennis te vergroten en de meettoestellen van de stationaire meetposten te kalibreren, de focus bij deze mobiele meetcampagnes ligt specifiek bij de parameter turbiditeit. Voor 2017 werd beslist om per seizoen een kalibratiecampagne uit te voeren op de meetlocaties Lillo, Oosterweel, Kruibeke, Schellebelle en Melle, om o.a. mogelijke seizoenale effecten (type sediment, organisch materiaal en biologische activiteit) in beeld te brengen. Concrete onderzoeksvragen waren :<br> - Werken de toestellen correct?<br> - Zijn de meetlocaties Lillo & Oosterweel onderling uitwisselbaar?<br> - Zijn er seizoenale effecten zichtbaar in de data of kan er 1 relatie opgesteld worden voor het hele jaar?<p> In het algemeen was er een goede overeenkomst in het verloop van de sedimentconcentratie gedurende de metingen voor de verschillende meetinstrumenten. Er werden goede relaties opgesteld tussen de sedimentconcentraties van de stationaire YSI/Aanderaa toestellen en de pompstalen met uitzondering van locatie Melle. In Lillo, Oosterweel en Kruibeke zou een relatie gebruikt kunnen worden om de relatie SSC-turbiditeit doorheen het jaar aan te geven. In Schellebelle is er een mogelijkheid dat de relaties seizoensafhankelijk zijn.<br>De korrelgrootteverdelingen (KGV) bekomen via de pompstalen en de LISST-100X gaven voor alle campagnes een ander beeld. De mediane korrelgrootte (D50) bij de pompstalen ligt vooral bij de kleinere korrelgroottes, waar deze bij de LISST-100X vooral bij de grote korrelgroottes ligt. Een aanvaarde verklaring is dat de vlokken in de pompstalen uiteengeslagen worden tijdens de algemene behandeling van het staal (staalname, transport en de behandeling), waardoor een heel andere korrelgrootteverdeling wordt bekomen.<br>De meetlocaties Lillo en Oosterweel zijn onderling uitwisselbaar. Of de Aanderaa toestellen onderling uitwisselbaar zijn is onduidelijk. Onderlinge uitwisselbaarheid van YSI toestellen moet verder nagegaan worden.<br>Op basis van de verkregen gegevens en getrokken conclusies uit de kalibratiecampagnes van 2017 werd besloten de kalibratiestrategie aan te passen voor 2018.
