The species <i>Mitra lajoyi</i> Deshayes, 1835, <i>Voluta bouei</i> Deshayes, 1865 from the Eocene of Paris Basin, <i>Voluta eomagna</i> Vokes, 1939 from the Eocene of California (USA) and <i>Lyria coquillensis</i> Turner, 1938 from the Eocene of Oregon (USA) are also discuted in this new genus. Lectotypes are designated for the taxa <i>M. parisiensis</i>, <i>M. chaussyensis</i>, <i>M. lajoyi</i> and <i>V. bouei</i>. Data are added on the distribution of these species. Three new species are described: <i>Eovoluta iolinensis</i> nov. sp., <i>Eovoluta volcesiana</i> nov. sp. and <i>Eovoluta quaggiottoi</i> nov. sp.
