The inventory of species and the comparison with the other sectors of the Caribbean zone do not show any particular endemism. However, one species is described as new and attributed to the genus <i>Spathochlamys</i> Waller, 1993 because of its general morphology, the ornamental structure of the disk,the byssal notch, its pattern and coloration. Together these characteristics show a close link with <i>S. benedicti</i> (Verrill &Bush, 1897), from which it differs by some distinctive attributessuch as the micro-structure of the valves, the byssal indentation,the loss of ctenolium in the adult as weil as some other secondary aspects.
