Title

Deep coralligenous assemblages off Punta Campanella (Tyrrhenian Sea), with special reference to some facies with fan corals

Abstract

High definition videos of deep coralligenous assemblages in a site located off Punta Campanella were acquired by ROV. Frames were extracted in order to study the benthic communities and the dominant facies. A relatively healthy coralligenous biocoenosis resulted the dominant habitat in the investigated site. Corallium rubrum, Eunicella cavolinii, Paramuricea clavata and sponges represent the dominant facies.
