Title
Network system for planning and supervision of field research
Abstract
Thesis is composed of two parts. In first general part few of the better-known organizations, whose purpose is to collect and exchange oceanographic data, and their programs are described. Besides of descriptions regarding organizations and programs, it is noted that old oceanographic measurements are important to understand today’s and to evaluate future’s measurements. That is why it was important to standardize and digitalize existing data. Data and information’s mentioned above are stored in publicly available databases. Second part of thesis describes network system ROSCOP for planning and supervision of field research developed on Institute of oceans and fisheries in Split. It also describes technologies necessary for implementation of the system. Besides of the description of the existing system it is described why it was necessary to modernize system. Changes made in system are about design of the application, improved performances of the databases and adding BODC's vocabularies of parameters and units into database. Goal of this thesis is to describe system for planning and supervision which is modernized by implementing responsive design, by optimizing queries on database to speed up data search and by implementing standardized vocabularies of units and parameters for better data exchange. Also, through this thesis it is important to emphasize the importance of preserving oceanographic data as well as constant development of systems that show data and information.
