This paper evaluates the reasons for the construction of artificial islands along with stating the various dimensions of the impact they pose including economic, geopolitical, strategic and maritime. The topic is of great importance in the present-day international relations since to a great extent they affect the political relations among countries and even determine the development of a country itself.
