BERGONZONI (2016) proposes six different subspecies and forms within this species complex. LORENZ (2017) takes over this classification, but splits the complex into three valid species: <i>Eclogavena coxeni</i> (COX, 1873), <i>E. hesperina</i> (SCHILDER & SUMMERS, 1963) and <i>E. steineri</i> (GATE, 1969). The use and validity of the names is checked bycomparison with the holotypes.
