Z. m. marginata</i>, and <i>Z. m. albanyensis</i> from adjacent shallower habitats, and <i>Z. orientalis</i> from the eastern side of the Great Australian Bight. Itis considered ancestral to these. <i>Zoila jeaniana praeclara</i> n. ssp. differs from <i>Z. friendii thalamega</i> and <i>Z. jeaniana jeaniana</i> by its shape and color pattern, which are intermediate between these taxa.
