Title
The deep-water Colossendeis tenera Hilton, 1943 (Pycnogonida, Pantopoda, Colossendeidae) off Western Mexico
Abstract
The deep-water Pycnogonida Colossendeis tenera Hoek, 1881, is reported from 12 localities off western Mexico. In the eastern Pacific, it had been previously recorded from the Bering Sea to southern California and from one isolated record off western Mexico. A total of 43 specimens, ranging from 36.9 to 215.6 mm leg span, was collected in a depth range of 750–2054 m, all below the lower limit of the oxygen minimum zone. Ecological information is provided for his material which appears to be tolerant to mild and severe hypoxic conditions, i.e., from 0.11 to 0.78 ml/l.
