Deze simulatie wordt uitgevoerd met een dagelijkse tijdstap om de waterbeschikbaarheid of -tekort van huidige watergebruikers in een klimaatveranderingsscenario te kunnen beoordelen.<br>De analyse van klimaatverandering in deze studie focusseert enkel op impact van verandering in neerslag en evapotranspiratie (ETo) op het watersysteem. Zodoende blijft het watergebruik ongewijzigd ten opzichte van de simulatie van de huidige toestand. De Climate Perturbation Tool ontwikkeld door een multidisciplinair team bij de Hydraulica afdeling van de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven en het Koninklijk Meteorologisch Instituut (KMI) werd gebruikt om toekomstige klimaat scenario’s op te stellen. De hydrologische invoer van elk bekken werd dan gemodelleerd met verschillende hydrologische modellen: NAM, PDM en VHM. Zes simulaties werden uitgevoerd om een omvangrijk analyse van klimaatveranderingsscenario’s te kunnen uitvoeren: één simulatie van huidige toestand per hydrologisch model en één overeenkomstige simulatie gewijzigd tot een toekomstige scenario. De Python Post Processing tool werd uitgebreid om de verandering van resultante watertekortindicatoren te kunnen berekenen en dit verschil in beeld te kunnen brengen op kaart.<br>De resultaten tonen aan een patroon van terugkerende knelpunten en bevestigen daardoor de resultaten van Deelopdracht 3-1. De grote meerderheid van geïnventariseerde watergebruikers in Vlaanderen zal onder de veronderstelde klimaatveranderingsscenario’s desgelijks geen watertekort ervaren zolang het watergebruik niet drastisch verandert. Het Albertkanaal blijft een knelpunt in het studiegebied voornamelijk voor scheepvaart. Deze hinder zal waarschijnlijk opgevangen zijn door de installatie van pompgemalen bij sluizencomplexen langsheen deze waterweg. Het Kanaal Gent Terneuzen daarentegen toont zorgwekkende stijgingen in watertekortindicatoren en vormt zo een belangrijke knelpunt in de toekomst van het waterbeheer in bevaarbare waterlopen in het Schelde-stroomgebied.
