All specimens are found on hard bottom between 10 m and 17 m depth in areas with lower sea water transparency due to the vicinity of Bojana river. Five of the six locations documented in Montenegro are situated in the future MPA Stari Ulcinj, and four of these five locations are situated along 3 km coastline of the Valdanos Bay. The sixth location, situated at the islet of Đeran in closest vicinity of Bojana River, showed the highest density of <i>S. lamella</i>.
