It can be distinguished from the known congeners by the differences in the male’s seven-segmented antennule, comparatively larger copulatory pore and genital field pattern in females, and different setal formula. <em>Danielssenia similis</em> Chislenko, 1978 is redescribed based on the type material and a new material from the Sea of Okhotsk. The genus now contains six well defined species.
