Hierdoor kunnen de resultaten van risicoberekeningen beschouwd in absolute cijfers grondig variëren naargelang de gebruikte data en methodologie. In het kader van bestek WL_2017_07 validatie, uitbreiding, optimalisatie en gebruik van LATIS, was het doel enerzijds het gebruik van de LATIS 4.1 tool en de achterliggende kennis en methodologie te consolideren, anderzijds om alle mogelijke verbeteringsmogelijkheden van de LATIS-tool te onderzoeken. Na een wissel in onderzoekers die op de ontwikkeling van LATIS werken, was een controle nodig op de kennisoverdracht en het gebruik van de LATIS-tool. Om zeker te zijn dat de toekomstige LATISberekeningen correct worden uitgevoerd, werd een controle LATIS-berekening uitgevoerd met de overstromingsdata uit project 13_159 “LATIS-berekeningen VRB-2018”. De output van de LATIS-berekening werd hierna vergeleken met dat uit het project 13_159 “LATIS-berekeningen VRB-2018”. Hierna wordt voor volgende bevaarbare waterlopen in Vlaanderen het overstromingsrisico berekend met LATIS 4.1 en base layer package Flanders_2016_003: Dender, Demer, IJzer, Sigma, en dit om verbeteringsmogelijkheden in de tool uitgebreid te onderzoeken. Aan het eind van het rapport worden al deze verbeteringsmogelijkheden opgesomd, zodoende dat dit alles kan meegenomen worden bij toekomstige ontwikkelingen aan de LATIStool.
