Maturity Index of nematode assemblages has been widely used as bioindicators in environmental assessments. This study was conducted to understand how the Maturity Index provides sensitive adaption with environmental disturbances (emphasis on effects of organic enrichment) in tropical mangrove ecosystems. Sampling was carried out in the rainy season of 2015, nematode communities were sampled and environmental variables were measured at the eight integrated mangrove—shrimp ponds in the Ca Mau mangrove forests in Southern Vietnam. Correlation and regression analyses were applied to explore the relationship between the Maturity Index and environmental variables. The Maturity Index of nematode communities differently responded depending on the environmental conditions. Maturity Index was positively correlated with salinity and, on the other hand, was negatively correlated with organic enrichment (total nitrogen and total organic carbon).
