- The ecological and population characteristics of the acadian redfish Sebastes fasciatus Storer, 1856 (Scorpaeniformes: Sebastidae) inferred from analysis of its parasite community composition
- Abstract
- The results of a study of the composition, ecology, and formation of parasite communities in the Acadian redfish Sebastes fasciatus Storer, 1856 are considered in the present article. The geographical features of the parasite community composition in this host fish species indicate the existence of six Acadian redfish groups with different degrees of isolation in the Northwest Atlantic. The most isolated groups inhabit the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Flemish Cap waters. The results of a comparative analysis of genetic data and some morphological characters of S. fasciatus available in published literature are consistent with the findings of the present study.
