Description of Odostomia widmeri spec. nov. (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Pyramidellidae) from the Eastern Mediterranean Sea

Abstract

Odostomia widmeri n. sp. (Pyramidelloidea, Pyramidellidae) is described from two locations in eastern Thermaikos Gulf (North Aegean Sea, Greece) at depths of 0.2 m and 5 m, as well as beached in Yumurtalik (Adana, Turkey), based on 12 specimens. The new species is yellowish-white to pinkish-white in colour and has the unique for the genus character of two narrow reddish-brown spiral bands on the teleoconch.
