All genera in these families are defined and a list of their species provided even though some genera have not been recorded from the south-west Pacific. The definition of the genus <i>Euchaeta</i> is here restricted and encompasses the following species: <i>E. indica</i>, <i>E. marina</i>, <i>E. marinella</i> and <i>E. rimana</i>. The genus name <i>Paraeuchaeta</i> is applied to the remaining species of Euchaetidae. Species of the following genera are described and figured and their distributions mapped in the southwest Pacific: <i>Euchaeta</i>, <i>Paraeuchaeta</i>, <i>Comucalanus</i>, <i>Onchocalanus</i>, <i>Phaenna</i>, <i>Xanthocalanus</i>, <i>Amallothrix</i>, <i>Lophothrix</i>, <i>Racovitzanus</i>, <i>Scaphocalanus</i>, <i>Scolecithricella</i>, <i>Scolecithrix</i>, <i>Scopalatum</i>, <i>Scottocalanus</i>, <i>Neoscolecithrix</i>, <i>Parundinella</i>, and <i>Undinella</i>. Eighteen of the species are new records for the area.
