Eén van deze stortzones bevindt  zich ter hoogte van de diepe put van Hansweert. Uit eerdere stortproeven (2016-2017) is gebleken dat de  initiële stabiliteit van de gestorte specie beperkt is. In mei en juni 2021 vond een nieuwe proefstorting plaats  ter hoogte van de diepe put van Hansweert. Om de effecten op met name het sedimenttransport in te  schatten, werden door het Waterbouwkundig Laboratorium 2 meetframes geplaatst nabij de stortzone. Deze  meetframes werden uitgerust met toestellen voor het meten van de stroming en het sedimenttransport. Ze  werden 2 weken voor de aanvang van de stortingen geplaatst en hebben een aaneengesloten periode van 6  weken gemeten.<br>De metingen van sedimenttransport gebeurden met indirecte meettechnieken (optische en akoestische  backscatter). Om de gemeten signalen om te zetten naar sedimentconcentratie werden 2 kalibratiemetingen  uitgevoerd. Voor zowel de akoestische (geknikte exponentiële relatie) als de optische (verschillende respons  binnen de getijcyclus) sensoren bleek eenvoudige regressie onvoldoende en moest een complexere relatie  opgesteld worden. De metingen van de stroomsnelheden en de (afgeleide) sedimentconcentratie laten  vervolgens toe het sedimenttransport te berekenen.<br>Aan de hand van een ensemble-analyse is nagegaan of het sedimenttransport verschilt in de periode zonder  en met stortingen. Wanneer de eerste periode met stortingen vergeleken wordt met de periode voor  aanvang de stortingen, is er voor beide meetlocaties een (lichte) toename in het sedimenttransport waar te  nemen. Wanneer de tweede periode met stortingen vergeleken wordt met de periode voor aanvang de  stortingen, is er voor meetlocatie \"oranje\" een (lichte) afname in het sedimenttransport waar te nemen,  terwijl positie “geel” quasi gelijk is in beide periodes. Uit de analyse blijkt dat de variatie in het  sedimenttransport tussen enerzijds individuele getijcycli bij gemiddeld getij, de variatie over een springtij doodtij-cyclus en anderzijds de onzekerheden in de berekening van het gemeten sedimenttransporten, een  factor 10 groter zijn dan de te verwachten veranderingen in sedimenttransport door de stortingen (bij een  proefstortingen van 1 Mm³). Ook met betrekking tot de wijziging in sedimenttransport naar het Middelgat  kan gesteld worden dat de bijdrage van de proefstorting klein is ten opzichte van het natuurlijke transport  en de variatie hierin.
