This is the first record of the species for the Russian fauna. This species was initially considered as a member of the genus <i>Philine</i> Ascanius, 1772 (family Philinidae). In the present article, we transfer it to the genus <i>Retusophiline</i> Nordsieck, 1972 (family Laonidae) under the name <i>Retusophiline malaquiasi</i> (Valdés, Cadien et Gosliner, 2016), comb. nov., based on the morphology of the headshield, gizzard and copulatory system.
