This paper focuses on the two main objectives of the workshop, 1) to aid the development of stronger interdisciplinary communication between the natural and social sciences and to improve the utility of available scientific information and knowledge; and 2) to promote new perspectives on the sustainable use of coastal areas and natural resources.
