Data were processed to show the distribution of <em>Cladophora</em> (benthic algae) in the nearshore zone and to estimate the standing crop. The present report deals with <em>Cladophora</em> distribution in the region from Niagara to Rochester, New York.</p><p id=\"SP0010\">The results show an extensive growth and development of <em>Cladophora</em> in the study area. Approximately 66% of a 350 meter wide nearshore bottom zone in the western portion of the lake is covered by <em>Cladophora</em>.
