A positive correlation revealed by analyzing the shoreline changes, erosion and accretion of Moheskhali Island in last 27 years. The result showed that shoreline has increased about 272.75 mm with an annual rate of 11.85 mm/yr despite the mean rise of sea-level in this stipulated period. In this study, shoreline change rate was calculated by Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS), and erosion and accretion were calculated by an overlay operation in ArcGIS. A linear regression model was drawn along with sea-level, shoreline, and erosion and accretion data to understand the impact of sea-level. Active storm surge, the abundance of sediment and water discharge, coastal afforestation, etc. played a significant role to increase area of this Island.
