De uitgevoerde monitoring betreft de continue metingen van waterstand, debiet, stroming, saliniteit en sedimentconcentratie, alsook vaarten (halftij-eb en 13-uursmetingen), golfmetingen en periodieke metingen zwevende stof. Tevens is een inschatting gemaakt van de fluviatiele aanvoer van sediment, alsook van de PFAS-vrachten doorheen de Zeeschelde. Tenslotte worden ook de morfologische verandering van de Zeeschelde beschreven.<br>Het jaar 2022 was, wat het getij betreft, een vrij normaal jaar. Voor het referentiestation Antwerpen kenden de hoogwaters tijdens middel- en springtij normale waarden. Tijdens doodtij is het gemiddelde hoogwater lager dan gemiddeld tijdens het voorbije decennium. Het gemiddelde laagwater is dan weer hoger. Dat maakt dat ook het gemiddelde tijverschil lager is dan gemiddeld tijdens het voorbije decennium. In 2022 deed er zich drie keer op korte tijd (januari-februari) een stormtij voor.<br>Het jaargemiddelde bovendebiet 2022 voor Schelle bedraagt 81 m³/s. Dit is de 4e laagste waarde in de voorbije 10 jaar, en ligt in lijn met de drogere jaren voorafgaand aan het nattere jaar 2021.<br>De historische vergelijking van 2022 van de stroomsnelheid over een getijcyclus voor doodtij, gemiddeld tij en springtij toont de lagere stroomsnelheden genoteerd voor Oosterweel-Boven in de uren voorafgaand HW. In de uren na HW, vooral vanaf HW+4u, zijn de stroomsnelheden voor 2022 significant hoger in vergelijking met de historische trend. Voor de springtij cyclus vallen de waarden van 2022 zelfs buiten de P10 – P90 (2001 – 2021) grenzen. Beschouwen we het langjarig verloop in gemiddelde stroomsnelheid bij eb en vloed, dan zijn de jaarstatistieken voor 2022 weinig verschillend ten opzichte van de 3 voorgaande jaren. <br>Voor het jaar 2022 tonen de afwaartse posten een lage saliniteit begin januari, in de maand februari en eind december. De aanvoer van zoet water richting Schelde estuarium was in deze maanden dan ook hoog. De volgende periode was droger waardoor de saliniteit licht steeg. In de zomermaanden was de saliniteit aanzienlijk hoger, maar waarden vergelijkbaar met andere droge jaren (2017-2019).<br>Voor de afwaartse stations zijn de SSC waarden in 2022 hoger tijdens de wintermaanden. Onder meer het afwaarts migreren van het estuarien turbiditeitsmaximum (ETM) bij hogere afvoer (typisch voor de winterperiode) is hiervoor verantwoordelijk. Voor de opwaartse stations is een verhoging waarneembaar tijdens de maanden mei-november. Ook hier speelt de positie van het ETM een rol. Tijdens de winter is dit gelegen afwaarts Weert. Wanneer de bovenafvoer afneemt in de loop van het voorjaar-zomer migreert het ETM opwaarts, wat resulteert in hogere SSC waarden. Vanaf het moment dat de bovenafvoer terug toeneemt (najaar) resulteert dit bijna onmiddellijk in een afname in SSC. Wanneer het verloop in de tijd beschouwd wordt, ziet men dat de waarden stroomafwaarts van Kruibeke in 2022 hoger liggen dan deze van 2021 en meer in lijn met deze van 2010 – 2016. Deze stroomopwaarts van Kruibeke zijn echter gelijkend aan deze van 2021 en dus nog altijd relatief laag. Dit geldt voor zowel de concentraties aan de oppervlakte als aan de bodem.
