Title: Class Malacostraca (subclass Eumalacostraca)
Abstract: This chapter presents an updated taxonomic review of freshwater Malacostraca. It is organized into an introduction to Malacostraca followed by seven other sections corresponding to the main orders of freshwater Eumalacostraca (Amphipoda, Bathynellacea, Decapoda, Ingolfiellida, Mysida and Stygomysida, Isopoda, and Thermosbaenacea) present in Mediterranean Basin. Each section contains the ecology and distribution of orders, the necessary material preparation methods, the relevant morphological terms, and current limitations in our knowledge of the group. Dichotomous identification keys to family, genus, and even species are provided for most of groups (only genera with more than 15 species were not include in keys to species).
