- Title
- Ensuring long-term sustainability of the fishery for Apostichopus californicus in British Columbia (Canada) through collaborative science and adaptive management
- Abstract
- This chapter examines the evolution of sea cucumber harvesting in British Columbia (Canada), from a fishery with few management controls to one with a robust stock assessment and management regime. Collaboration and adaptive management are highlighted as vital components to the development of the fishery, exemplifying how a precautionary approach can be applied to achieve a sustainable harvest, even for a data-limited species.
