Based on recent bibliographic data these specimens are now reassigned to <i>L. ligneus</i> (Reeve, 1858), an alien species that entered the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal. This raises questions on the real identity of the <i>L. agglutinans</i> specimens reported to date in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
