This spread is briefly reviewed. Field and laboratory experiments are described which show that <i>P. jenkinsi</i> orientates upstream and it is suggested that this could result from mechanical forces of the water turning the shell. It is shown that<i> P. jenkinsi</i> can survive a six hour passage through the gut of a trout and produce live young shortly afterwards.
