Title
Stock delineation of pelagic fish in Indonesian waters for a better management of sustainable fisheries, including parasitological studies of Decapterus macarellus (Cuvier, 1833) and Scomberomorus commerson (Lacepède, 18000)
Abstract
This study examined the biological aspects of pelagic fish in Indonesia and the use of parasite fauna to identify distinct unit stocks. Key findings include the mackerel scad's year-round spawning in the Sulawesi Sea and earlier maturation in areas with higher fishing pressure. Parasite analysis revealed distinct mackerel scad stocks in eastern Indonesia. Similarly, distinct stocks of narrow-barred Spanish mackerel were identified in different locations based on the parasite fauna. These findings highlight the need for management strategies for each stock to ensure sustainability.
