- Title
- Stock delineation of pelagic fish in Indonesian waters for a better management of sustainable fisheries, including parasitological studies of Decapterus macarellus (Cuvier, 1833) and Scomberomorus commerson (Lacepède, 18000)
- Abstract
- This study examined the biological aspects of pelagic fish in Indonesia and the use of parasite fauna to identify distinct unit stocks. Key findings include the mackerel scad's year-round spawning in the Sulawesi Sea and earlier maturation in areas with higher fishing pressure. Parasite analysis revealed distinct mackerel scad stocks in eastern Indonesia. Similarly, distinct stocks of narrow-barred Spanish mackerel were identified in different locations based on the parasite fauna. These findings highlight the need for management strategies for each stock to ensure sustainability.
