It was probably introduced to European waters along with Japanese oysters or by attaching itself to ship hulls. It was first observed along the Belgian coast on the 26th of March 2001 in the Sluice Dock of Ostend. <i>Polysiphonia senticulosa</i> mainly adheres to hard substrates, such as rocks and oysters. Furthermore, it can be found on other algae in sheltered areas with gentle currents and wave action.","AbstractOtherLang":"Het Puntig buiswier <i>Polysiphonia senticulosa</i> is een roodwier afkomstig uit het noorden van de Stille Oceaan. Dit wier werd waarschijnlijk in de Europese wateren geïntroduceerd samen met Japanse oesters of doordat het wier zich vasthechtte op scheepsrompen. Het werd voor het eerst langs de Belgische kust waargenomen op 26 maart 2001, in de Spuikom van Oostende.
