By attachment to ship’s hulls or in their ballast water, this species was introduced in Europe. The first observation in Belgium took place in the Sea Scheldt in October 1996. This amphipod only occurs in the brackish water of estuaries. It is remarkable that in the Western Scheldt the species occurs almost exclusively in association with hydroid polyps, a habitat hardly used by native amphipods.","AbstractOtherLang":"Van oorsprong komt de Estuariene poliepvlo <i>Incisocalliope aestuarius</i> voor in riviermondingen langs de Amerikaanse Atlantische kust. Via schepen, door aanhechting aan de romp of in het ballastwater, werd deze soort geïntroduceerd in Europa. De eerste waarneming in België vond plaats in de Zeeschelde, in oktober 1996. Deze vlokreeft komt enkel voor in het brakke water van estuaria.
