Totally 36 species of phytoplankton of five divisions and 24 taxa of zooplankton were found. The highest biomass of phyto- and zooplankton were observed in the middle and upper sections of the estuary. In terms of the quantitative indices of phytoplankton development, the Khadzhybey estuary is a highly eutrophic water body characterized by the constant water bloom formed by Cyanoprokaryota. All registered zooplankton organisms belong to fish food objects. The average annual values of zooplankton biomass differed several times, but the taxonomic composition and predominance of individual species in the community remained unchanged. At the present time, zooplankton biomass is higher than that observed prior to 2016.
