It is essential to ensure that all vessels comply with current legislation and that the authorities responsible for enforcement have the necessary resources to carry out control activities. Given the growing concern for the sustainability of the fishing sector and species preservation, it is crucial to guarantee that vessels adhere to safety regulations and established fishing quotas to protect biodiversity. This study is based on the enforcement actions carried out by the Portuguese Navy on commercial fishing vessels and data from the Continuous Monitoring of Fishing Activity system. The analysis covers the temporal and geospatial aspects of maritime enforcement activities, using data that monitor the activity of fishing vessels. The georeferenced data presented cover enforcement actions between 2015 and 2022 and fishing traffic routes and activity between 2016 and 2022. The study focuses on the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Azores and the Marine Protected Areas of the Condor Bank, Princesa Alice, and D. João de Castro. For this region, metrics were developed to measure the Intensity (ISK) of fishing activity, combining the number and length of fishing vessels per square kilometer. The analysis shows that the intensity of fishing activities in the marine protected areas is very high, highlighting the pressure on protected ecosystems. The findings aim to assist regulatory institutions and researchers in assessing intensity and promoting sustainable fisheries management in the Azores to preserve marine
