This tool was used on each plankton sample to target the temporal distribution of the larvae between summer 1997 and summer 1998. The least abundant period for larvae from April to July 1998, was confirmed and also identified <i>P. maximus</i>which would have been very difficult to recognize with only the help of the analysis of prodissoconch shape.
