The European Union (EU) Nature Restoration Law (NRL), adopted in 2024, holds specific and detailed provisions on restoration of marine ecosystems. This new law could, if well-implemented, provide the incentive to boost marine restoration efforts within the EU. The NRL builds and complements existing restoration provisions in EU law.
