The blue gourami <i>(Trichogaster trichopterus)</i> is multi-spawning and male-dependent. with an asynchronic ovary development (Degani. 1993). Since each stage of its gonadal development can be controlled and examined separately in the labaratory. the blue gourami provides a useful model to study the hormonal control of the gonadal cycle.
