It was tried to reduce the manipulation to a minimum and to use the available volume most adequately. For <i>B. plicatilis</i> the best results were obtained with fresh <i>Tetraselmis suecica</i> as food. Nevertheless it is possible to maintain the population at a satisfactory level of production with preserved food. For <i>A. salina</i> the use of algae powder gave the best growth and survival.
