The facility included three separate seawater systems for egg incubation and hatching, larval culture and juvenile grow-out to minimum market size. The three systems can be operated using recirculating, partially recirculating, or flow through water. For the past 3 years, egg incubation and larval culture have been carried out for the production of juvenile stocks. The post-larval lobsters have been grown for more than 3 years on a diet of live blue mussel meat in the closed juvenile grow-out system. Observations on the juveniles maintained in this system indicate that optimal diet and knowledge of water quality requirements are needed for improving growth and survival rates.
