The algal reproduction is environmentally controlled by daily radiation, cloud, wind and temperature and is influenced by the nutrient level described by a Monod-equation. The grazing of the copepods on the algae is described by a Holling's type equation incorporating a developmental response, and the development of the copepod cohorts is regulated by temperature and food. The nitrate flow is given as the uptake by algae in reproduction and replacement by copepod excretion. The mixing of nutrients above and below the wind influenced mixed layer is incorporated.
