Blue-green algae from thick stromatolitic mats, organic matter exceeding the grazing potential of the fauna. This excess of organic matter supports a rich supralittoral fauna. There are 19 animal species known, among which six species of Coleoptera that are the most important grazers and predators in the Lake. This unusual type of biotic diversity is discussed.
