The restoration of the validity of <i>Eutelichthys</i> Tortonese on the basis of the presence of only five branchiostegal rays in <i>P.leptochirus</i>, its type species, is proposed. <i>Paraliparis murieli</i> has, as the other <i>Paraliparis</i> spp., a hyoid arch with six branchiostegal rays. The endochondral pectoral girdle of <i>P.leptochirus, P. murieli</i> and <i>P. hystrix</i> is described for the first time, and some data about the girdle of <i>P. edwardsi</i> are given.
