These investigations made it possible to evaluate the feasibility of the coastal plain sedimentary sequences for classical sea-level research with radiocarbon-dated basal peat samples. It is argued that the Holocene geological conditions of the eastern part of the coastal plain were not favorite for the application of this classical method. As a result, alternative sea-level indicators had to be searched for.
