The number of generations per annum is 7 for <i>C. typicus</i> and, according to years, 5 or 6 for<i> T. stylifera</i> in the neritic ecosystem of the Gulf of Lions. Only the 1st sp occurs all year round whereas the 2nd only play a role in secondary production in summer and autumn. The mean daily rate of production for <i>C. typicus</i> established over a year is 56.78mg (or 7.95mg dry wt) in 20 m<sup>3</sup> of filtered water (or 0.41m<sup>2</sup>) of surface area) and productivity (P/B) : 0.061 with a variation coeff of 52.8 p.100.
