Two male specimens were collected in April 2003, under stones at the pier of Hoek van Holland. Also molting skins were found at the beach next to the pier. In January and February 2004 the species was still present at this location. A detailed description of circumstances of collection and a description of the easy to use determination characteristics is given. Especially the distinguishing characteristics between <i>H. penicillatus</i> and <i>H. sanguineus</i> are discussed.
