Iron and zinc (the latter found only in <i>Crangon</i> from Bay of Seine) accumulated in different organs. The normal physiological process can explain to a great extent the different concentrations: ferric iron at the gill surface, iron in granular and microparticular forms in some hepatopancreatic cells, zinc in muscles and hepatopancreas. However, the zinc concentrations found only in the Bay of Seine population must be related to its excess in the environment.
