The morphology of the adult and juvenile stages has been studied from Roscoff shore, where many copepods were found. The dwarfish male catches in the abdomen of the female. Both are very well adapted to the parasitism: they have no eye, no mouth, and segmentation and even appendages (except mandibles) disappear. The cuticle allows a continuous growth. Genital glands are hypertrophied, and involve the swelling of the animal. The development is quite original: the copepod hatches in copepodite II stage, in which three appendages are not present. Copepodite III is characterized by the loss of appendages other than mandibles. It is difficult to recognize the other stage copepodites. Other copepods, parasites in the genital cavity of A. squamata, are described. The female's morphology shows three new species: Amphiurophilus bocqueti, from Roscoff, A. humesi and A. hendleri from the east coast of USA.","AbstractOtherLang":null,"BibLvlCode":"AS","StandardTitle":"Amphiurophilus amphiurae (Hérouard), crustacé copépode parasite des bourses génitales de l'ophiure Amphipholis squamata Della Chiaje, échinoderme: morphologie des adultes et étude des stades juvéniles = Amphiurophilus amphiurae (Herouard) a parasitic Copepoda of genital cavity of the ophiurid Amphipholis squamata Echinodermata : morphology of adults and study of young stages","OrigTitleLangCode":"fr","OrigTitleLangCodeExtended":"fre","OrigTitleLangID":22,"DateLastModified":{"date":"2024-12-10 01:33:01.897972","timezone_type":1,"timezone":"+01:00"},"UserAccessRight":null,"UserAccID":null,"AuthorKeywords":null,"OtherDescriptors":null,"Notes":null,"AnaPub":1979,"MonPub":null,"DateUpdate":"2016-02-25","DateCreate":"2004-06-03","SecASFANote":null,"ConfID":null,"PeerRev":1,"VlizCoreFlag":1,"WoScode":null,"VABBcode":null,"OpenAcc":1},"refs":null,"anarec":{"AnaID":62479,"PubliDate":1979,"Pagination":"201-230","XtraPublOfAnaID":null,"ISBN":null,"Volume":"20","Issue":"2","BRefMon":null,"BRefMonRR":null,"BRefXtra":null,"BRefXtraRR":null,"SerBRefID":42348,"SerRR":"Cahiers de Biologie Marine.
