Neither feeding cells nor a follicular envelope surround the mature oocyte, which is located among collagenous fibrils. Although the general morphology of this oocyte is close to that of other Demospongiae, some peculiarities can be remarked: presence of yolk inclusa and lipidic zones inside the pseudopodia; generally radial pattern of pseudopodia which look different in mophology and dimensions around the oocytes; vacuolation of cytoplasm and final variation of the oocyte that could be interpreted as a preparation to spawning.
