The natural conditions of the formation of such tubular strands and the general pattern of funiculus in <i>E. pilosa</i> are described. The ultrastructural study of funicular tissue in <i>E. pilosa</i> shows tht it is formed of a single kind of cells which are characterized by the abundance of their granular reticulum. Lacunae within tubular strands are interstitial and free to be displaced or fuse.
